Adam McLevey

This weeks creator showcase focuses on Adam McLevey. Adam is well known locally as lead artist  on the Royal Hotel mural project and has had his work featured as part of a Banksy v Bristol museum exhibit in 2009.

As well as his street style Adam has a fondness for popular culture in his images.

An artist with a great talent for character painting in a unique style, Adam created 'Steve'. Steve is a creation which whilst maintaining the McLevey style, also leaves you to be in no doubt about who the character is.

'Steve' first became popular during Adams 'one pound, one stamp' project although I became aware of his work during his Persona Project which focused on 1 character a day for a full year. An amazingly dedicated project starting October 2012. I was lucky enough to purchase an item from this project and it takes pride of place in my office.

Adam has also embarked on a Persona 2.0 project which featured another yearlong project this time a weekly offering on a larger scale.

As well as fitting in these projects adam also takes on commisons for his work and can be contacted via his website and twitter below.

Philip Normal

Philip normal is a designer with a very misleading name. His style is anything but!

That being said his infusion of wild designs, retro & pop culture references and bold colours cant help but draw you in.

His work is sure to be a quick favourite for many readers and I hope to see your pictures in some of his gear.

Philip has recently worked in collaboration with British musician Vincent Frank AKA Frankmusik, and can be seen on his music video - Ephemeral Summer.

Having only just found Philips stuff a couple of days ago I couldn't wait to share his work with you, and hope to be purchasing something in the near future.

Philip can be found across most social media platforms as well as having his own shopfront on the ASOS clothing website.

Neil Slorence - www.neilslorance.com @osmart

Neil Slorence is an artist & illustrator with a style which excels in its simplicity.

A worthy winner in 2014 for Dungeon Fun; a fantasy adventure comic with writer Colin Bell, sweeping the board winning the awards at the Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance (Sicba) awards, which invited readers to vote for the best Scottish comic of the year for best comic book, best writer, best artist and best cover.

This im sure helped contribute to their success in being asked to create some single page comic strips for the Dr Who comic.

Neil also is responsible for many mini comics such as 'How to be a Ghost', 'The Astronomers Journal', and his
Travalogue Trilogy. But comics is not where it ends. He offers so much more, such as individual commisions
of which I was lucky enough to receive one from my wife, after she heard me gushing over his work and purchasing
a poster print of his limited edition poster ' a sinking night'.

I could go on about his work but ill let you check out his website and enjoy his witty poster designs and urge you to check out his comics.

Neil can be contacted via his website and various social media channels.

Okay, at a glance this site is full of words like Spriggledop, Okemordyn & the Netherknowle Adventure Club. But fear not, this isn't some language you wont understand. It is a language of magic and mystery. Beautiful little bespoke toys designed for you by the extremely talented Taylored Curiosities.

Creator Showcase

In todays consumer driven society, where big business seems to control everything. Massive corporations, shopping centres, huge brands seem to dominate.
What I would love to do is to throw some light on individuals or small businesses who are out there trying to earn a living by producing what we love, but on a much smaller scale.

There are so many Artists, Writers, people who design toys, games, comics and other such craft or bespoke items we all love out there that deserve our attention..

Lets try and support each other, if you can't afford to contribute financialy, you can help spread the word. A simple Retweet, FB like etc can go a long way to help generate interest and support for these wonderfully unique small businesses.

Every Sunday, I will try and write up a small article every week on a creator I think is doing a wonderful job.

Please help spread the word.

Thanks.

PS, So i'm a little late off the mark, but c'mon it was the Festive Season so as I missed last week ill give you 2 this week. Sound fair? okay good.
